Autogrill provided food&beverage services for the accredited press in the Media Village at the G8 Summit in L’Aquila, which was held in the “Scuola Sottufficiali della Guardia di Finanza (Coppito)” from 8th to 10th July 2009.
The over 3,500 journalists, from 60 countries, had a specially created restaurant (for buffet lunches and dinners) measuring around 1,500 square metres, plus two round-the-clock bars serving coffee, cocktails, soft drinks and sweet and savoury snacks.
Autogrill’s offering featured both local Abruzzo and international cuisine to satisfy a diversity of tastes and religions.
The menu included 15 recipes made with locally produced foods and a selection of local wines: including salad with spelt and herbs, flavoured with Abruzzo ventricina salami, caserecce alla carbonara with flakes of Abruzzo sheep cheese, Abruzzo kebabs, nuggets of veal in Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, and wines such as Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, as well as veal and turkey kebabs, cous cous, chili con carne and special diet items including gluten-free food.
There also was areas for tasting local products such as salami, soppressata, sheep’s cheese, caciottina orsetto, parrozzini, pan dell'orso and assorted confectionery.
