Milan , 04 October 2013 - Through its HMSHost International subsidiary, Autogrill Group (Milan: AGL IM) has entered a contract with Finavia, Finland’s airport authority, to operate 16 points of sale at Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport. The agreement provides for a two-stage roll-out of operations: the first nine locations are expected to open in the second half of 2014, while the other seven will come into service in 2016. The concession is expected to generate total revenues of over €200m in the period from 2014 to 2024.

The new operation is part of the Group’s strategy of expanding the airport business in Northern Europe, a region with good opportunities for growth in the airport f&b sector in the coming years. With around 15 million passengers in 2012, Helsinki Vantaa is the fourth airport in Northern Europe by traffic after Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm-Arlanda. Over the last 10 years the airport has seen international passengers grow by 4.5% a year and the hub is of growing importance for traffic between the Baltic and Asia, and especially Russia and Japan.

Autogrill will bring an offering of the finest local food products to this Finnish airport, known for the efficiency and excellence of its services. Brands will include nEAT, a fusion restaurant specialising in Nordic cuisine, The Finnish Kitchen & Bar, a casual dining concept focusing on Finnish cooking, and The Citizen, a traditional beer and wine bar. The offering is rounded out by “on the go” formats like Urban Food Market and Grab&Fly but also international burger concepts and Asian concepts like the Noodle & Sushi Bar.

Autogrill provides f&b services at Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport in The Netherlands, in six airports in the UK (London-Stansted, London-Heathrow, Manchester, Belfast, Inverness, Manchester and East Midlands), in three Irish airports (Cork, Dublin and Shannon) and in the airports of Copenhagen in Denmark and Stockholm-Arlanda in Sweden.
