Gianmario Tondato Da Ruos

Group Chief Executive Officer

Born in Oderzo (Treviso) in 1960, he graduated in economics at Università Ca’ Foscari in Venice and started his career at Nordica S.p.A., subsequently moving to Arnoldo Mondadori Editore and various Benetton Group companies.

He joined Autogrill Group in 2000 and moved to the United States to head the integration of its US subsidiary HMSHost Corporation. He then implemented an important phase of reorganization and strategic refocusing on the Group’s concession business and diversification into new business sectors, distribution channels and geographical regions.

His policy of global growth through organic development and acquisitions enabled Autogrill to double its Food & Beverage sales, while the acquisition and subsequent integration of Aldeasa S.A., Alpha Group Plc and World Duty Free Europe Ltd. transformed the Group into the world’s biggest airport retailer in 2008. This was followed by the demerger and listing of WDF in 2013.

He is currently chairman of HMSHost Corporation, an independent director at International Game Technology Plc and a member of the advisory board of Rabo Bank.
